Our first visit and we will definitely be back. The ribeye was tender and flavorful. The cheeseburger was perfect. Delicious tea and great service. Everyone is friendly and welcoming

We were going to Amelia Island, my husband suggested we eat here. He played in Golf tournaments in McRae, they like the food. He was correct, the food and service was fantastic. Can't wait to go back

Great little hometown restaurant... the food was excellent! We especially loved their salads, and my salmon was perfectly cooked. We would drive down from Cochran to eat here again!

Food was excellent. Will go again. Very reasonable. 3 vegetables, 1 meat, cornbread and dessert for 2 people with tip was 20 dollars.

The cafe is nothing special to look at inside, just a typical country Cafe that seemed clean and well maintained. Our server (Sierra) was friendly and helpful having been going there herself since she was young. She was familiar with the complete menu and gave us lots of suggestions. She obviously loved the place and was excited to share with us. She explained how everything was handmade, and i do mean everything down to the salad dressings and fresh bread with garlic butter that comes with each meal (took some back to the hotel, yummy). The only problem was she made everything sound so good it was hard to choose. We finally settled on some simple choices with it being so late. Diane had the three chicken tenders that come with no sides and I had a bunless burger with mixed veggies. First off these were not the tenders that you typically get. These were basically three grilled chicken breast that were absolutely delicious. Perfectly grilled they were tender and juicy with the right amount of grill flavor and seasoning. I don't think plain grilled chicken gets any better. My burger was much the same. Cooked perfectly with that good grilled taste. The veggies actually worried me at first looking like a mixture of overdone leftovers. Boy was I wrong. The combination of vegetables and seasoning was such a fantastic combination I could have made a meal of a huge bowl of just that. Literally some I'd the best veggies I've had in a long time. The price tag. Under $17 before tip. Yep, I said that right! The man that owns the place is the cook and seems to put a lot of care into everything he fixes. I don't usually give 5 stars for food because it has to be perfect but this place gets 5 stars for the food. It may have been simple fare but attention was paid to all the details. Highly recommended two thumbs-up

My husband and I visited Little Okmulgee State Park to see the Christmas lights. We stopped here afterwards for a bite to eat. I was expecting hamburgers and fries, junk food, or maybe a house salad made of lettuce. I was so wrong. This restaurant is a hidden gem. I couldn't believe the amazing menu. I had the backend chicken and my husband had the catfish. The portions are large, so large we had to take half of it home. The staff were funny and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. I will definitely be back. The desserts are worth mentioning also. They are all so good it was hard to choose. I think everything about this place is fantastic.

Been eating here for many years starting with my precious mama. Now I go with my beautiful wife and the food is always good, fresh and hot and very reasonably priced. They have different lunch specials each day and when you go there you will be treated like family and made to feel welcome. I highly recommend Southern Star Grill to anyone passing through the McRae area, you will be glad you stopped in.
